My design philosophy is to approach each project individually. I am dedicated to listening to my clients, bringing their space to life with their personal style. I believe in a hybrid of respecting the home’s history and architecture by transforming it to my client’s lifestyle and vision. My goal is to curate interiors that are approachable, yet evoke personal emotion through color, pattern and texture. I’ve always been intrigued by natural textiles and authentic finishes and intentionally infuse them into every project. Collaborating with trusted contractors and reliable vendors is key to my successful execution. I pride myself on attention to detail and open communication while contributing to the investment of my client’s home.

Mary Best founded Mary Best Designs in 2003. Mary attended the London College of Fashion while in school at Iowa State University where she graduated in 1998. Mary developed a love for textiles during her studies at these institutions. This led to her first job at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago where her passion for interior design evolved. She mastered her composition skills while working as a photo stylist for a Chicago advertising firm, decorating home sets for commercial catalogs. After working for an interior design company in Portland, OR, Mary decided to start her own business, back in the Midwest. Mary Best Designs serves the Chicago and Milwaukee area because Mary is native to the former and resides in the latter.
